Health and Safety

health1.jpgThe Keewaydin staff is committed to an understanding that the basics of safety are born out of prevention, and maintain this standard throughout every aspect of our day to day operation. Every trip staff member completes an annual recertification in Wilderness First Aid and CPR through a nationally recognized training organization. Their knowledge is passed on to campers systematically through several days of interactive coaching after they arrive at camp. At the beginning of the season, every new camper must pass a swim test, and receives thorough training in safe canoemanship and water rescue.

Facilities

Keewaydin has a fully equipped infirmary and medical personnel on site twenty-four hours a day while camp is in session. If further medical services are needed, hospitals are available in nearby North Bay and New Liskeard.

Meals

While in base camp meals are served family style, with every attention possible paid to making meals nutritious and well balanced. While out on trip campers participate in cooking their own food, eating three hot meals a day.
